This past weekend was the annual Toronto Yoga Conference + Show.
It's our third time attending the show, however this time we upgraded to a larger booth, and a central location. Our booth was right across from Giddy Yo-Yo Organic Chocolate (hello, samples!) and in front of the Thai Yoga Massage clinic. Win-win.
As some of you may know, we scrambled a bit to get our booth together.
Originally, I had the grand dream of building freestanding wood walls so that we could hang clothing/racks and shelving from the walls.
However, with a week to the show, our booth designer fell ill and pulled out of the project.
So, when that happens -- you make the BEST with what you've got.
We've got a new hire at Encircled, Angela. She started in March, and is a super-talented graduate of the prestigious Ontario College of Art + Design. With her graphics skills and design eye, we were able to put together a booth that showcased the brand, and why we do what we do well. Using of all things -- foam core, duct tape, ikea frames, zip ties + no more nails.
Here's the finished booth!
Our full booth. Even managed to fit in a little changeroom!
The feature wall, with all of the looks for the Chrysalis Cardi.
Our new banner wall, Pack Less. Do More. With a photo line featuring our new postcards, prints from Anna with Love, and Danielle Laporte's Truth Bombs.
Pretty neat, right?
Thanks to all of the customers (past and present) who stopped by to say hi, shop and just hang out. It's SO wonderful to have such good vibes around the brand. Seriously everyone at that show was so interested in what we're doing, and positive towards our mission and efforts.
The Dressy Sweatpants + Nomadic V-Necks. These guys sold like CRAZY. I'm glad we doubled our production of the V-Necks, and are going to have to knit our own fabric to make more sweats. Our studio is bare!
The fabric. Our staff that were working the booth were blown away by how many people walked by, touched a scarf or shirt, and commented on the softness of our materials. It definitely made me think we need to do a better job communicating this online as our fabrics are game-changing, and of course, eco-conscious.
Free packing lists. We gave out printed copies of our new version of the Carry-on Only packing list that were appreciated by everyone. We have a few extra copies around the studio, and will be dropping them into packages over the next couple of weeks.
The Staff. Hustling. This show is LONG days. Shout out to our Encircled staff and helpers who helped with setup and working the booth.
Returning 'boothie' and Chrysalis Cardi expert, Kara rocked her full encircled ensemble(Dressy sweats, Blush Cardi and Twist Headband)
I worked the entire weekend from 8am-9pm, and am feeling like I need a long winter's nap (good thing in Toronto, it's practically STILL winter!). I also got the opportunity to hone my winter driving skills in a 10 foot zip van, including getting stuck on two hills. Shout out to my dear Mother who helped unload the van at 9pm on Sunday night during a blizzard.
We also had Lauren from ShopBeautifully.com / TorontoYogaMamas help out one day too. She had the Encircled elevator pitch down in a few minutes! Her boss Jamie, even dropped off a table one day for our booth. :)
Thai Yoga Massage. If you haven't tried one of these before, I highly recommend it. I was battling severe neck pain for the past two weeks, and after 10 minutes (yes 10!) with Louisa took my pain from a 8/10 to 3/10.
Acropolis Olive Oil. I sampled this, and regret not buying it. I didn't have my wallet with me, and then the day got away from me. It's organic, full-bodied and amazing.
This show is always a fav of ours -- the people, the brands, the vibe... awesome and we plan to be there next year as well.
It's definitely worth a trip to Toronto for any yogi out there.
