Valentine's Day is a mere couple of weeks away, and you might be scouring the internet to find the perfect gift or gesture for someone that you love. Of course, there’s always the classic flowers + chocolate + cheesy card combo, but maybe you’re interested in something that’s a little more thoughtful & also more sustainable. A wonderful alternative to a store-bought gift is a fun experience that you can share with your loved one.
Regardless of who you’re celebrating with, here are some suggestions for out of the box sustainable Valentines Day gifts for a variety of budgets!
Make the most out of the gloomiest month of the year, and embrace the season! A fun winter activity, like skiing, snowboarding or skating is a good chance to learn something new together, or do something that you both already enjoy! Plus, warming up afterwards with hot chocolate sounds so cozy.
This option is equally romantic or great for if you are spending Valentine’s Day with your friends/family. If you don’t already have a favourite go-to board game, pick out a new one as a team! Marathon a couple of games, and see who comes out victorious at the end.
Skip the commotion of going to a restaurant, and cook a meal for yourselves at home! If you’re looking for something simple and delicious, pasta is the way to go! Depending on your cooking abilities, there are lots of options for recipes and ingredients. Get fancy and try your hand at making your own pasta + sauce. If time is not on your side, there are lots of delicious and nutritious boxed pastas and sauces! Stick around to the end of this post to see how you can win a Romantic Night In prize pack.
This is a vague suggestion, but it works for a variety of relationship statuses. Newly dating someone? Bring them a coffee to work! Married for 20 years? Cook dinner before the other one gets home, or do breakfast in bed! A small gesture goes a long way, especially if Valentine’s Day isn’t necessarily your favourite “holiday”, or if you’re on a tighter budget.
Since being declared an official holiday by Leslie Knope, Galentine’s Day has taken the internet by storm. A great way to hang with your single girlfriends on the day of love. The only thing sweeter than spending time with you bff’s, is using that quality time to make heart-shaped baked goods and then eating them all!
No matter how you choose to spend Valentine’s Day, being present with your loved ones is the priority! Let us know how you're spending your Valentine's Day on our Instagram.
