Holiday booked – Check!

Trip organized – Check!

Everyone informed about the departure date – Check!

Have everything on pack list – Check!

These are the easy things on our to-do list when preparing for our travels.

For this part, it doesn’t really matter if you are going for a 10-day trip or a 10-month sabbatical.

Organizing the practical side of travel is very clear. You have ideas to see countries or experience different kinds of adventures. There are many different ways to find support or different ways to book it.

The true challenge starts with letting go the practical side of traveling.

When all this is done you’re sitting in the airport, bus station or fully loaded car on your way.

How can you make sure that you’re really present in your trip?

How can you make sure that your dream is truly enjoyable?

With travel it is the same as with eating an amazing meal, you need to take the time to taste the food, feel your body respond and enjoy the conversation.

The same applies with traveling, as it is not only about reaching the destination, but it is all about the complete journey.

To make sure that you are ready to savour your upcoming travel adventure, follow the below 4 tips to get your mind and body ready to go.

1. Ensure you are well rested before your travel

Make sure that you are ready a week before you go. No more lasted minute errands, or big farewell parties.

You are going on an amazing trip; it is time for you to calm down. Think about it as athletes preparing for a race/game. They slow down so that they can fire up again.

2. Set your intention

There was a reason why you booked this trip.

Take your time before starting your adventure.

Postponing this part will create a lot of stress in the beginning of the trip. Saying goodbye and letting go of your home is always unsettling. Connecting with your intentions gives extra support and encouragement to start your trip.

3. Be in charge on the day of your departure day

The first day of your trip is the most important one it is going to set the tone for the upcoming journey.

This is the part that you want to remove the anchor. Take time to say goodbye and close this chapter to start a new one. This is no the time to give in or to please others.

This is your trip, you’ve planned it, and you’ve dreamed about this.

4. Regularly check-in with yourself.

When you are on your way, take time to check in with yourself. To really connect with your intentions and see how things are going, especially on the first few days of your trip.

Traveling has a completely different rhythm; it brings a new routine to your day.

Check in; how are you feeling, is it necessary to make any changes?

With these check-ins, you can create a little time out for yourself. This way, you know it is still your trip and your intentions.

Traveling is an amazing experience. This is conscious or unconscious why we love dreaming about it, and this why we create such trips.

Here we find answers to create our dreams, this is the place where we can completely re-energize. This is why it is so important to leave stress and worry at home.

During your travels, the only to do list is the one you’ve created. So, if it doesn’t feel right, you can take it off the list and enjoy the surprises that will come and fill up the empty spot on the list.

Happy travels,

Renee
