Samples and Seconds Sale Price Guide

Mislabel
Either the care label, the content label or the size label inside of the garment is incorrect - aside from this, the garment is perfect!
Stains
Stains include any discolouration in the fabric. Most stains can be cleaned out with proper care and washing.
Yarn Pull
A yarn pull happens when a single yarn is caught in the fabric and pulled, causing a thread tail. Cutting the thread may cause a hole but gentle handling of the garment and proper washing will keep this defect from becoming noticeable over time.
Slub
A slub appears as a thick grouping of yarns within the fabric of a garment and is only visible due to the textural difference. These are permanent as they are caused during knitting and cutting or pulling on them could create holes.
Orange Stains
Orange stains appear as pinprick sized dots of orange, and are relatively difficult to see when worn. These are often permanent.
Pin Sized Holes
These holes are small enough that they are relatively unnoticeable. With proper care and washing these holes will remain small and unseen. These can also be easily mended with matching thread.
Holes
Holes that are larger than pin size falls into this category. These holes are not in an area where the structure of the garment is compromised. Holes, even if unnoticeable, can decrease the longevity of a garments' life if not cared for properly, and gently.
Fabric Runs
A fabric run occurs when a yarn is snagged and broken, with the end result appearing like an empty line in the fabric. Most runs are difficult to see when worn. Runs can become larger if pulled or stretched but proper care and gentle washing will help to keep them from becoming larger.
Thin Spots
Thin spots appear as slightly see-through, or more transparent, areas of fabric. These thin spots vary in size, but most are around 1-2" in diameter. These flaws are relatively unnoticeable but may become more see-through over time with washing and wear.
Fabric Defects
Fabric defects are any remaining, unexplainable or seldom occurring issue with the fabric. These defects do not affect the structural integrity of the garment but can cause the fabric to look different than it normally appears. These include darker areas of knitting in the fabric, marbling of fabric colour, tight areas of the knit, or unexplainable lines in the knitting.
Production sample Any item that was constructed during the design process to finalize fit or construction methods, or when trying a new contractor. These items are structurally sound, but often don't match the final versions perfectly in terms of construction.
Pilling Pilling is a common flaw, and it eventually happens to all knits and some wovens. It happens when repeated abrasion of a garment causes the fibres to become loose and form small balls on the surface of the fabric. Pilling can be all over a garment due to long-term use, or in concentrated areas (ie. where seatbelts might sit across your chest/lap, if your shirt repeatedly rubs against your countertop, etc). While pilling isn't detrimental to the structure of a garment, it does indicate slight wear in that fabric.
Sewing imperfections Sewing imperfections include any flaws that occur in the construction of the garment rather than in the fabric. Sewing imperfections can include mismatched thread, seams that don't lie flat or completely straight, or hems that are uneven.
